Stroke (lat. insulto — jump (into) — severe disorder of brain blood flow (haemorrhage, etc.), causing death of brain tissue. From the point of view in modern medicine stroke - is a very severe and dangerous vascular affection of central nervous system. It is known that cerebrum, in order to sustain functionality, requires constant supply of oxygen-rich arterial blood. Brain cells are very sensitive to lack of oxygen and they die without it. Hence, nature created a vast web of brain arteries, which provide intense blood flow. Clots or rupture of these vessels cause stroke, or in other words, death of a particular part of cerebrum.
