Cardiac infarction - heart disease, caused by blood flow insufficiency with necrosis (mortification) in heart muscle (myocardium); most important form of eschimic heart disease. Cardiac infarction is caused by severe occlusion of coronary artery gap with a clot, swollen atherosclerotic plate. Heart attack consequences. After heart attack the area of heart muscle is gradually replaced with joining tissue – in other words a ridge is formed. Obviously, if the ridge will become big and thick, the structure of heart muscle will change and will not be able to handle even light stress. What will happen with heart muscle after heart attack, first of all depends of the patient himself. Most crucial period is the first few months. In the hospital the patient undergoes the physiotherapy and therapeutic gymnastics course. The most important thing is to avoid stressing the heart too much. In the beginning the patient must walk on flat surfaces, avoiding stairs. After, intensify exercise load very gradually. Absolutely, the work load schedule must be adjusted, smoking and alcohol consumption must be stopped, while keeping consulting the treating doctor regarding sport activities and sex. There is a possibility of taking medication for the rest of your life after suffering a heart attack. Regular taking of medication allows most patients, who suffered a severe heart attack, have a high quality of life and bring the consequences of the disease to a minimum
